Very sturdy and well made. other reviews state that the leaf is sagging etc....well the hardware holding it up is pretty beefy, and there are instructions included for if you need to tightenlevel the leaf. also the other review stating the drawer and leaf should be on the same side...well thats not physically possible, they would get in the way of one another. they included a package of wood seasoning to get you started as well. I hemmed and hawed for months over whether or not to order this island. I’m so glad I pulled the trigger. It fits in nicely with our old farmhouse. We ordered the Cucina GrNSW Prep Table with Butcher Block Top (without the optional pot rack mounted above as the picture shows). It took about 5 weeks from order to delivery. We paid extra for the white glove service to construct the prep table. I have to say the service was exceptional, the delivery team were professional, and had the table assembled and all the packing material removed from our kitchen (two flights of stairs up from the street) in no time - they were very respective and quick. We LOVE the Prep Table, our ONLY comment is that the lower shelf sort of tings whenever we place anything on that shelf. This is not a deal breaker, but we might try to find a way to dampen the “ting” sound whenever we put anything on the lower shelf. Very classy design, heavy and sturdy with eye-catching detail and impressive proportions. This was a significant purchase for my new home, and it looks like it was made just for my kitchen. But I am not $1,500 worth of happy... I would put my happiness rating at about $900. But I paid over $1,500 and I have some issues with this item. Mostly, the paint and overall finish on the legs and frame it not what I expected. The little bare detail spots are very rough and not sanded smooth so they will snag clothing if you brush up against it. And the wood used for the legs is heavy but also can be dented quite easily (which happened during assembly using a hand tool). But the real kicker for me is the paint job... for this much money it just doesn't seem to be "finished." You can scratch it off with a fingernail. With 3 small dogs in my house this is a potential problem. Add to that, the paint was not sealed in any way- and John Boos SELLS a poly coat product! I guess John Boos wants me to spend another $30.... and apply it myself. Which would have been easier before I assembled it. Now that it's put together, it will be a difficult job. The John Boos Cucina Laforza Boos Butcher Block set was designed for the professional chef in mind. Handcrafted using American Cherry, this 6″ thick end grain wood top is extremely solid and strong. The frame consists of commercial grade stainless steel, custom designed to hold our Boos Block 24″x24″ wood top. The lower stainless steel undershelf provides additional storage space while the floor glides can be adjusted to fit any floor surface. The butcher block top and stainless steel base are each sold separately.

This butcher block table is beautiful. I spent more than I wanted (although I shopped around and Wayfair was the best price overall) but a friend also has this block and I fell head over heels for it. Shipping ended up just fine but prior to delivery I was left without much detailed information regarding delivery because Wayfair couldn’t help me and referred me to fed ex, but fed ex also couldn’t help me because they never gave me a tracking number! The item is made of all-natural American black walnut wood. Walnut sapwood is white and uses all of the wood. It's a tone color of the wood and the tone of the wood varies within the tree itself. Variations in the final product are not defects and therefore not covered under our warranty.

So far it's a great cutting board. Definitely have to follow the care recommendations for the initial oiling and seasoning for the first week or so.
