We needed to upgrade my 17 year old son from a twin to a full size bed and wanted something that coordinated with his other good quality furniture without spending a lot for the bed. Some pieces (including the headboard) are quite thin. One piece arrived splintered (assume occurred) in transit but we could glue and the way the screws fixed to bed, it wasn’t a structural issue. 5 stars for the bed but unfortunately, the experience took much longer than it should have. Our first delivery arrived incomplete, with only two pieces of wood—more than half of the bed was missing. We had to return it, and a full replacement shipment was sent, which delayed everything, including our assembly (which, of course, we still had to pay for). The new shipment did arrive with all the parts, but we also noticed some chipping and damage on the side. At that point, we decided to keep it because we were tired of going back and forth. The craftsmanship is excellent—the drawers glide smoothly and the panels fit together perfectly. One of my favorite features is the pull-out nightstand slides. They are incredibly convenient and keep the room looking tidy since they aren't in the way when not in use. While assembly took me about 7 hours solo, the end result is so sturdy and high-quality that it was well worth the time. Plus, the solid wood slats provide a perfect, stable base for any mattress. This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down.
