Our shiplap kits are available in a custom-milled pattern, giving you the look of traditional shiplap with a perfect 1/8 inch gap in between each board to give you the desired nickel gap effect. Nickel gap wainscoting offers a clean-line, modern take on shiplap with an interlocking tongue and groove profile so they don’t overlap at all. The tongue fits in the groove, once installed on a surface, the boards have a gap between them, so you don’t get warping that causes shiplap boards to look crooked or uneven. I love the look of these and wanted to use these in a commercial bathroom installation. Unfortunately, they are too think and don't have a flat surface on the back so they aren't great to use with grab bars, toilet paper holders, and other things that I would need holes in it for. There aren't any installation directions and I couldn't find any coordinating trim pieces to cover up any holes or to go the top. Planks have the natural rustic outside exposed and are placed underneath and straight-lined to provide you with a more uniform surface and square edges for a simple and clean installation.
