Beautiful terracotta base. A substantial lamp that is full of earthy character. The shade didn't work for me though. Felt too big, and because I have the lamp sitting on a side table in our sunken living room, you could see too much of the inside and the bulb. I realized I needed an empire shade instead of a drum, so I had to spend the extra money to purchase a different shade. But I'm happy with the purchase overall. Note that you can see a "seam" (one on each side) where the potter put the two pieces together I assume. I like it and think it adds to the character, but others may not.. Andrea. I decided to keep the lamps because I love everything else about them. I did read where some ppl felt the gold on the base looked cheap but I didn’t think so, just the finials…but you really can’t tell once the finials are in place. The lamps are a classy timeless look!
