I decided to keep the lamps because I love everything else about them. I did read where some ppl felt the gold on the base looked cheap but I didn’t think so, just the finials…but you really can’t tell once the finials are in place. The lamps are a classy timeless look! Beautiful lamp! It was well packaged, easy to assemble, and very sturdy. The light it casts is soft, not bright. My couch is a sofa bed so I didn’t want guests to have to get up to turn off the ceiling light. I don’t know if this lamp would be bright enough to read by, but it’s very pretty.
