Being porcelain, it’s very hard and durable, and perhaps best of all, you can use an orbital sander to remove thinset and grout without damaging the finish—huge time saver! Just one critical thing to know in advance: these are spaced at 4mm, and you’ll have to search hard to find 4mm spacers. 3/16 is too wide, 1/8 is too skinny. On the upside, if things start looking a wee bit out of alignment, you can use those 3/16 and 1/8 spacers (very selectively) to cheat a little, with no discernible impact to aesthetics.. Ryan. Adding more pics after I used a black sharpie on all the grout. Black grout is more like cement color. It made a huge difference to me. The other looked all washed out. I attached a couple pics of my backsplash to show the before and after of me professional sharpie touch-up. Backsplash is also from Wayfair. It will not be installed for a few weeks, so I can add that picture later. I bought this for a fireplace surround. I expected it to be a bit wider, but that was my issue. It clearly shows the size. Typical subway is a bit wider. I liked the bit of variation. I think it will look even better with the black grout I plan to use. The other is what I am planning for my backsplash. That will also be black grout and also from Wayfair. I do not know how they packed so much bubble wrap in the box. Not one tile arrived damaged. If it had, it would not have been for lack of trying. It is tile, so I can see how it could still get broken. I am happy it did not! I just placed my order for the remaining tiles. I had to order a box to really guage. Wow! I’ve been dying to see these walls for about 5 weeks. They were delivered right after Thanksgiving for our bathroom remodel, and they took up a LOT of garage space since then. The packaging was larger than the 5x8 ft wall size by at least 6” in every direction. There was some damage to the cardboard one one edge, but there was no damage to the product. Unfortunately the delivery drivers placed the package upside down, so I couldn’t even glance at the marble effect. I was afraid to try to flip it to look at it. I was worried that it might look tacky, the way some “marble” products have busy pattern repeats or weird colors (like the “marble” shower base we returned that was “marbled” with purple and brown streaks.). But I did not need to worry! These wall panels are fantastic! The marble effect is very subtle and natural looking. We made sure we had room to store them flat until our contractor could install them, which finally happened today! They have a matte, lightly textured feel that is similar to tile, but no grout lines to scrub!. The crew commented many times how luxe it all looks. My contractor will caulk it on Friday when he installs the new toilet and vanity, and then we can try it out on Sunday! I looked at every possible wall material before settling on these.
