The grooves in it are not too deep, but deep enough to see. We will be ordering more for a big project. If you know this wood, this piece is exactly as ambrosia maple should be with the groove character! It is not a flat back, rather has the edging thinned out to be used for wall paneling if needed. This crown molding corner piece made a significant difference in the final look of the room. Without the corner, the molding would feel incomplete and far less polished with it, the entire installation looks intentional, seamless, and professionally finished.
