BEWARE! This baseboard will cost you a fortune. The material itself at $57 per plank is one cost. The extra planks you’ll need to order to try for some color cohesion is another, and the extra you pay your installer to cut pieces (to remove unsightly dark splotches and variations) and jigsaw them together to appear cohesive is another. I was too far in to turn back but I will never be happy with what I ended up with. Meant to look special, looks sub builder-grade. I’d have been better off with plywood and a router. I understand it’s natural wood and poplar is known for its distinctive patterning. Unfortunately it just looks cheap. I can’t recommend it. Arrived super fast. Exactly what we wanted and needed. Description was perfect and the piece has a lot of character just like Ambrosia Maple should. The grooves in it are not too deep, but deep enough to see. We will be ordering more for a big project. If you know this wood, this piece is exactly as ambrosia maple should be with the groove character! It is not a flat back, rather has the edging thinned out to be used for wall paneling if needed. This is the floor of my dreams. I am so happy. First of all, it looks just like the product page photo. The sample I ordered was darker, had little or no red tones, just sort of flat looking. The customer photos are what convinced me to take a chance and I am so glad I did. The finish is smooth and glossy, the red tones gleam. It is so elegant. I LOVE it! Update: 11 months later, I still love this flooring. Maintenance has required a learning curve. It does show dirt and dust quite a bit and my cats leave little paw prints everywhere so it needs to be cleaned a few times a week, which I don't love. I discovered the best way to clean it is with a dish soap and water solution (a few drops of dish soap to about a quart of water) sprayed on a microfiber mop pad and not directly on the floor.
