It’s very well made and solid. It’s large and beautiful. However, the top portion (3 spinner elements) are fixed to the angle you put it in the ground. This is more than worth the interesting movement and great craftsmanship that most folks will likely think of when they buy it. These photos are after a summer of it being outside and it still looks incredible. The “patina” -rust in this case-has added more charm to it, without damaging any structural integrity. So expect a little of that unless you live in a dry area. I bought this because a true blue heron has invaded our koi pond and attempts to curtail this majestic bird from snacking on our fish failed, including a static model that looks identical, sans wing movement and a water spray detection that only sprayed me. Annoying. Bottom line-this has worked! I’ve witnessed several standoffs between this metal bird against the real bird. Fascinating.for sure, but metal bird won every time. At least so far The real heron is here because there is a large pondsmall lake behind our yard where it typically hunts and should hunt. This little object packs a big wallop. It's stunning against the night sky. My plan is to make raise it higher than the stake it comes with but the stake, at over 4 ft is great. It's a part of my planter bed and will reign over the planter. I have a street lamp on my property and as you can see in the 1st pic, it doesn't affect the auto on aspect. I am so happy with this spinner. I painted mine turquoise if you are wondering, the don’t sell it like this. It’s just awesome! First it’s quite easy to assemble. The bearings on this are extremely well made! One spinner goes one direction the other another direction. It’s quite amazing. The top is meant to spin freely when the wind blows it will turn with the wind. So you will always have movement! Yet, the bottom pole is staked in the ground. Quite genius if you ask me! The pole is thick. Strong steel. It’s only two pieces and then the top part that spins and then the spinner. So you do not have these multiple poles bending and twisting. Only the two pieces. And it’s so strong. Not cheaply made! The spinners are beautiful, they were shipped very nicely in the box, separated from each other so they wouldn’t be bent or damaged. I appreciate things like that from a company. This spinner gets so many compliments from my neighbors since it’s in the front yard. I enjoy it. You should get one if you are thinking about it. Sunguard UV protectant spray helps extend the life of garden & outdoor decor. The superior UV inhibitors protect against color fading, peeling, and cracking. When dried it has a clear finish, unlike polyurethane products, which will leave a sticky yellowish residue. Update to my review. Less than a year later and one spinner won’t spin in the wind at all now though it turns by hand. The other is only spinning on the top. Has anyone figured out how to fix it Took it apart, oiled screws and put back together and still isn’t working the same.
