I opted to set this couch up with the L shape vs the U shape. The U shape isn’t coffee table friendly. The only thing I’ll say is the two square pieces that create the U shape they slide when you sit or lay across them. so you have to put a carpet under it to keep it in place Thats really the only negative I have to say. UPDATE : this couch was a torture trap however I was determined to get use from it. I removed the back feet (because it pitched forward) i replaced the back cushions with kingsize down pillows, but then the back was too low. The back is just a metal bar with fabric over it and the pillow slips through, no actual support! I went to the hardware store and purchased two pieces of plywood: 27x29”, then I covered them with the hard foam from the original cushions then I used a staple gun to upholster black micro fiber blanket (60x70”) cut in half, to the plywood which I attached with 4 med hinges to the base and inside the”killer” bar. (I do NOT recommend using micro fiber, but I made it work). The couch is now custom and deluxe in comfort and the upgrade was only $52 more! To think I actually considered throwing this in a land fill!! The plywood serves as back support as well as headrest! Yay me. This is a great interim couch. Pretty easy to put together, I could have used some help but I was able get it done myself. I like how versitile it is. You can divide it up or leave the arms off of either side. (Just have to disguise the holes on the sides with a throw blanket if you do). But it gives you more arrangement options throughout the yr. Also you can buy some deluxe throw pillows and disguise the quality. The one thing you really have to consider is it looks navy blue in the afternoon light and blk in the evening. I truly love the comfort of this couch. The back is very durable and the seats are comfortable. The fabric is soft! It wasn’t too difficult to build which was amazing. I put it together in about an hour. The only thing I would change is that the storage is a bit difficult. The cushions attach to a board and you have to lift the whole thing off to get into the storage. It doesn’t have a hinge so in the process of lifting it off, the cushion falls off the board. I was skeptical....Delivery wasn't up to standards...BUT, the sofa is awesome! Very firm, but springy, requiring a little "just getting used to". Fabric is better than expected, the color is a little lighter than pictured. Another adjustment...the sofa comes to the floor, no legs, and I can't count how many times my toes have stopped me dead (but softly). LOL! Bottom line, I'm very happy with it! It is very easy to assemble. While sitting on it, it is firm which I like it. Little disappoint is, it's small in width in sense of sit position. As for example I have other brand sofa almost in the same price range. It has more sit room and space back rest in position but this new one seems to be tightly on this case.
