This table features custom solid brass forged hardware, pie-cut mahogany field, a two-tone satinwood inlaid border, black and white Hepplewhite inlaid perimeter skirt, and an overbuilt and very sturdy Duncan Phyfe-inspired saber leg pedestal. The feet also have durable, adjustable levels which are generous enough to accept a large felt pad. The table and leaf locks have a cam-like action, so they hold the table seams tight when you open and close them. The table is finished in warm mahogany. Yes, this lamp is expensive, but yes, it’s FABULOUS! Purchased two for bedroom nightstands and I couldn’t be happier. They were very well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. The light ivory shade is also perfect and the top crystal ball tightens down nicely so the shade doesn’t spin around. Another lamp on the Perigold/Wayfair site by Robert Abbey looks very similar and the same price as this one, however, in reading the reviews for the other lamp, the top crystal piece that holds the shade in place doesn’t screw down tightly and just spins around; thus making the shade also move. This lamp has a 3-way switch, so it looks gorgeous with the dimmest setting, but brightness can be increased with just a turn of the switch.
