The main structure of this bench is made of solid wood and iron. The bottom is added with H-shaped support shelves to increase stability. We like the craft flowers on the backrest and the solid wood legs in the style of Roman columns. This makes this bench both practical and decorative.

The good: the fabric is a nice neutral cream/beige linen, which was a welcome surprise as the listing says white. The overall size is perfect and the foam seems sturdy. The bad: the horizontal frame bars attach to the sides by sliding into welded brackets. The brackets are not welded squarely so the entire bench frame is tweaked. This makes large gaps in the corners and the ball feet are uneven. Even with the adjustments to the feet, there is an inch gap on one leg to meet the floor, making the bench wobble. This Mercer41 storage bench exceeded my expectations. The velvet upholstery looks really high-end in person, and the vertical tufting with the gold metal base gives it a modern luxury look without feeling over the top. It instantly made my bedroom feel more polished and put together. The hidden storage is actually pretty spacious too — I was able to fit extra blankets, pillows, and a few miscellaneous items easily. The flip-top design feels smooth and sturdy, and the bench itself feels solid when sitting on it. Assembly was quick and straightforward, mostly just attaching the base. I also love how versatile it is. It works great at the foot of a bed, in an entryway, or even as extra seating in a living room. The fabric is soft and comfortable, though like most velvet pieces, it does show marks depending on the lighting and direction of the fabric. We bought this for the foot of our king-sized bad. It's good-looking and sturdy, and it took only about 30 minutes for two of us to assemble. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the very last thing we did was use wood screws to attach the legs to the cross pieces and the last screw went clear through and pierced the right front leg. It's almost imperceptible, but annoying. Also, we picked the natural color and expected variations in color and grain. However there's a black streak in the grain of the back piece.
