Petite shades made of a finely woven grasscloth bring added warmth to a space. Due to the natural material’s inherent texture, there is a knotty richness to their surfaces, though the lighter hues are so delicate they read like linen. In fact, the shades for chandeliers and wall sconces in this collection are of the finest weaves made by hand, evidenced by the tiny telltale knots along the surface that prove they are the ultimate definition of artisanal. The shades come in three different weaves, the one with the most texture trimmed in thin bands of cloth and the finer ones culminating with a rolled edge. Both designs exhibit a tailored feel, as you can see from this fine off-white version of the tapered shade.

It's lovely material, but the install was initially pretty (conceptually) tough. Screwed up with the adhesive and had to order another piece of this. The main thing that saved the final install was using a (cordless) nailer, which made it a lot easier. If you don't have one, recommend to borrow one from a friend (hopefully you already have one). If you don't use a nailer, try to find the least obtrusive finish nails / use a precision finish tool (not sure what it is called but it's a little thing you use with a hammer to push the nail heads deeper, but not so that you dent the moulding) to submerge the nail heads. When you paint this, also recommend to start with the little domes and really work around them so paint does not pool. Finish the rest of the paint job with swipes in parallel to the length of the 'board'. I ended up using four coats of paint...it was worth it. Your mileage may vary! This has got to be the best thing we bough during our remodel. We put it very high up, as this isn't a molding you'd want where it could get brushed up against. It's not hardy because it...styrofoam! But, man, was it easy to put up and paint. A little tricky to cut, we used a razor blade. But it's gorgeous and you cannot tell it's not wood!
