Gable vents work to provide ventilation, releasing stagnant air, preventing damage from humidity, and optimizing temperature control. Gable vents are particularly useful during the summer months when hot air rises and is trapped in the attic, where it can transfer itself down through the ceiling and back into the level below, decreasing the effectiveness of air conditioning systems A gable vent is located at the attic area, commonly on the exterior wall where the two planes of a sloping roof join, forming a triangle. The gable can be any symmetrical shape, but the triangle is among the most common. Other vent shapes include rectangles, steeples, circles, and octagons. Gable vents are fitted with horizontal ventilation slats called louvers. You can add a mesh screen to be placed behind the vent. This allows air to circulate while keeping outside elements where they belong. A gable mounted ventilator helps to push air through the louvers. The ventilator removes air from the attic through the use of turbines or fans. The gable ventilator commonly requires no carpentry, as it is mounted on the interior of the wall behind the gable, however, electrical installation is required.

Urethane faux wood shutters stay true to authentic wood by not only having a wood grain, but also by having the ability to be either gel-stained or painted. Longevity of this faux wood material is priceless, without sacrificing the real wood appearance of the shutters.

Purchased the Riverwood style. Painted them but have not installed yet. They arrived primed, but primer is tacky…sticky. I have had to put 2 heavy coats of paint on them. Still painting…waiting for paint coats to dry and not be sticky either. Only concern is the shutters are not as sturdy as I expected (why the 4 stars) and hoping during installation they will not be damaged. Niches have been used in homes for almost 2000 years, first made of white marble in Nero's home. Most niches are still white, and for many years were mostly made of plaster.
