These are pretty. A little strange the base color (blue) was speckled looking. The shipping was less than desirable. They did not arrive in time to be painted by my painters. The ETA changed a lot. Shutters are mounted with historically correct operable hardware. Unlike “fixed mounted” shutters, this hardware sets the shutter off from the house and allows the shutter to be closed within the window frame. This adds dimension and an elegant accent to your home.

The gable can be any symmetrical shape, but the triangle is among the most common. Other vent shapes include rectangles, steeples, circles, and octagons. Gable vents are fitted with horizontal ventilation slats called louvers. You can add a mesh screen to be placed behind the vent. This allows air to circulate while keeping outside elements where they belong. A gable mounted ventilator helps to push air through the louvers. The ventilator removes air from the attic through the use of turbines or fans. The gable ventilator commonly requires no carpentry, as it is mounted on the interior of the wall behind the gable, however, electrical installation is required.

I was very detailed about measurements and measured my windows from the outside as this makes a difference with ledges and making sure the shilutters are not too short or long. I was a little hesitant to spend the hefty price on these shutters being that you can spend a fraction of the price for cookie cutter shutters at a big box store. However, I wanted something different than the 100's of other homes on the block. I'm happy to say, that I am very pleased with the end result. I ended up purchasing the "primed" shutters and selected my own exterior paint color to use on these. I was a bit annoyed that no mounting hardware is included, so I ended up using deck screws and cement anchors into the brick mortar. Then used 3/8" mushroom caps to plug the holes. I did not want a permanent plug because I may wat to take them down and repaint them at some point. Pros: -solid construction, not hollow like general store bought shutters. -painted well over the primer -unique design Cons -expensive -does not come with mounting hardware. Chris.
