Gable vents work to provide ventilation, releasing stagnant air, preventing damage from humidity, and optimizing temperature control. Gable vents are particularly useful during the summer months when hot air rises and is trapped in the attic, where it can transfer itself down through the ceiling and back into the level below, decreasing the effectiveness of air conditioning systems A gable vent is located at the attic area, commonly on the exterior wall where the two planes of a sloping roof join, forming a triangle. The gable can be any symmetrical shape, but the triangle is among the most common. Other vent shapes include rectangles, steeples, circles, and octagons. Gable vents are fitted with horizontal ventilation slats called louvers. You can add a mesh screen to be placed behind the vent. This allows air to circulate while keeping outside elements where they belong. A gable mounted ventilator helps to push air through the louvers. The ventilator removes air from the attic through the use of turbines or fans. The gable ventilator commonly requires no carpentry, as it is mounted on the interior of the wall behind the gable, however, electrical installation is required.

Beautiful! I put them in a doorway in my apartment. I mounted them with Command strips. I did have to put a smear of E6000 glue on the spot where the strips went and let that dry first as the edges that go against the wall are a little porous and the strips wouldn’t stick. Really good variety for sizes, and I feel that this design is classic and understated. The construction of this product could be way better though. It is difficult to put a hollow corbel - and most of the are for decorative use, not going over a supporting wooden beam or anything. It would be nice to have at least some backing. Also, there are noticeable (but tiny) cracks between some of the layers on the front of some product, not all. These are pretty. A little strange the base color (blue) was speckled looking. The shipping was less than desirable. They did not arrive in time to be painted by my painters. The ETA changed a lot. Attached is a pic of the installed brackets. Unfortunately,we no longer own this house so I can't send more pictures. But the brackets were the finishing touch to all of the mill work that I installed in the home. When we sold the house our realtor said that the mill work was a deciding factor in the buyers choosing our house. I was impressed with the quality and ease of installation. If I remember correctly, I used construction adhesive to install them and did not use any fasteners of any type. They really added that finishing touch to the beam between our kitchen and dining room. I would rate the quality five stars!
