Finally a lip strike long enough!! As you can see, the current lip strike has been drilled many times, so there is no more wood to secure the top part. There were no specifications with the item description so I was hoping it would be a universal fit for my vinyl double hung windows. However, it is not universal. The spacing of the screw holes are narrower than my existing window sash locks, and the back plate is too deep for my windows — this will not fit properly. I’d give 4 stars if the specifications were listed. This will probably work if you have a different window size or a wooden double hung that doesn’t have an existing lock. I wanted something with additional security. I’m keeping this in the original packaging as this will be donated since I can’t use it. I had this installed on a very old exterior door that only had a basic gold lock set, it didn’t seem secure at all. This Prime-Line Swing Bar Door Guard will increase peace of mind when answering the door by allowing the door to be cracked open slightly for viewing. When engaged, a ball on the keeper interlocks with the bar lock and prevents an intruder from pushing their way through. We have improved upon the standard door guard design and added an innovative backup thumb turn security lock that blocks the release tool from disengaging the door guard latch. In cases of emergency, hotel security or emergency crews can pop the thumb turn off of the unit by applying approximately 100 pounds of force to the door. (Note that 100 pounds of force is much greater than a simple kick in, so the emergency release feature does not compromise your security.) Additionally, after the thumb turn lock breaks away, the unit still operates as a traditional swing bar door lock and a specially designed Anti-Lockout emergency access tool is required to swing the door guard out of place. To help prevent forced entry into your home, it is always a good idea to engage the backup thumb turn lock whenever you are not actively using your door.

This patio lock is made well. I wish I could install it, but my new apartment complex will not allow me to drill into the frame. I will be giving this to my sister to use on her patio door. I will say it is very well made. The locking peg is sturdy and long, so it will secure the door when I stalled. This is a great product! I was excited to install on bathroom window after I painted, I checked where it would go to try out the lock and Dang it! My windows aren’t level! So I’m going to have to build up one to sit even as the lock is a very secure and tight fit, I didn’t know a keyed window lock existed. Once I figure out how to build up the wood I’ll insert a finished product picture, the picture here shows defect of my frame. Also the key will not come out of lock in the open position. Gail.
