The molding is so beautiful! Exactly what I was looking for. As someone mentioned before the molding has a coating on it from most likely going through the molding process. I used wall paint and it took a few coats. I think spray paint would have been an easier process, honestly. Anyway, I highlighted the scrollwork with an acrylic silver paint after painting it black. I purchased this in eight foot lengths to install all over the house: living room, den, four bedrooms, and hallway. It is beautifully intricate in design and has held up over the years with no cracking or chipping. We painted it a white semi-gloss. My only minor concern is that in the winter it does shrink a bit at the seams, showing gaps. But I think a little white caulk would take care of it. Added plus: we had one wall that was curved.
