I will say that I did not pay enough attention to the description when I purchased this and I thought would run on a battery. It will not, it has to be plugged in. It has been a year since this purchase and this is what I have done, burnt, cooked, sauteed, souped. To all the events afore mentioned cleaning it was not so difficult. If burnt, they recommend adding water, boil, wait to cool, then clean it with or without adding a cleaning agent. Me, pour hot water with dishwashing soap, leave it overnight, then wash it, dry it, put it away. There has been the occasional stubborn spot that will not come out the conventional way, so, I have used citric acid, allowed it to sit, and viola! all clean. I am all for no elbow grease anything and this has not been so difficult for me, arthritis and all.
