I needed a slender profile floor lamp for a dark corner. Wasn't entirely sold on the attached task light, but am finding it useful for some unobtrusive, directional light on the wall when used alone. The top glass cone's light is quite bright, and I may use it only in the daytime. Would'a given it 5 stars if it had a clear electrical cord. WHY do lamp manuf's continue to use black?! Why provide a black cord when, as with this lamp, extra cord won't retract into the lamp base? So I have excess black electrical cord tied up beside the white lamp base and stretching across the wall to the outlet. Not so attractive, but I'm trying to overlook it.. Debra. Frankfort, KY. Simplicity at its brightest, the harper floor lamp produces plenty of ambient illumination in a slim package. The minimalistic satin steel pole body is steadied by a round metal base. Light is gently diffused through a white linen fabric shade with a frosted diffuser. An Adesso patented 300-watt double socket construction allows for two crisscrossed sockets, each holding on/off 150-watt incandescent or led bulbs which provide approximately 3 times more light than a typical torchiere. A simple high/low rotary switch is located on the shade cup to adjust the brightness. This lamp has a black cord and is smart outlet compatible. Bulbs are not included. Note: use incandescent bulbs up to 150w or dimmable led bulbs (do not use: 3-way bulbs or CFLs. We recommend using incandescent bulbs for best results achieving both settings of 50% brightness and 100% brightness with no flicker. When using led bulbs, it is common to see some flicker on the low setting (the high setting will always have no flicker). A dimmable led will minimize the low-setting flicker, but may still occur.
