I bought these because my husband has a nickel allergy, and we needed to replace an heirloom set we were using. They are nice and heavy, and have held up to the dishwasher just fine. I have a daughter with autism who is obsessed with bending silverware and we have literally spent thousands of dollars on silverware over the years. Until I came across gourmet settings.
