A short finger pressure on the drain plug opens or closes the valve. Without the pull rod on the back, the faucet looks even more puristic.

However, there's no mention or photo that shows this part is only the 'sleeve' that is inserted into the rough-in mix valve - it doesn't include the internal cartridge (must purchase separately if needed).
