Relatively easy install, just took time. Solid construction. There is a metal bar that runs under top bunk, that I purchased pipe foam insulation to cover it as I knew it was just a matter of time before a child hit there head really hard on it. Overall I really like this bunk bed. Color is a bright white. Some of the pieces appeared less painted, as in I could see the wood grain behind the paint as the piece could have used another coat, but once the bed was together this was completely unnoticeable. Some pieces also came a tiny bit damaged but they were all hidden once together. I thought I was going to have to add slats or a bunkie board because of the distance between the slats but because of how they are attached and the material that runs down them to attach them this was not necessary at all. I have 6 in memory foam mattresses on mine that work out really nice. The bottom bunker might bunk their head- but this is true for any bottom bunker on a bunk bed. I'm happy with the bunk bed. But my kids are ecstatic. They were celebrating it for like 30 minutes. And the best part is they sleep better now. Putting it together was as difficult as advertised and due to my fitness level, I was sore for days after. The instructions were thorough, though could have been better as some steps could be merged with later ones to make the construction easier to accomplish. And the slats portion could be improved significantly as some were shorter than others. Those steps also didn't convey that the position of each wasn't fixed. So I had to measure the bed frame and put marks down to ensure I did it evenly. I would have expected markings on the frame to indicate where the slats would go. As a mom of boys, I’ve purchased and assembled several bunk beds over the years to know that these are my favorites to date. I was able to put the bunks together in an hour by myself without any issues. The bunk is sturdy, and I have no concerns about stability or the bed slats coming out, as they snap into place. The attached ladder doesn't take up floor space or block access to the bottom bunk. The height of the bottom bunk not only prevents anyone from bumping their head but also gives my boys a lounge space to read or watch TV. My only complaints are that I wish the upper side rails were higher since current mattresses are not thin, so our mattress sits flush with the rail. We use a pool noodle under the sheet along the rail for extra peace of mind. If your mattress is on the thinner side, you won’t have any issues. The second is that I wish the clearance underneath was just an inch or two taller, as it wouldn’t impact the bottom bunk and would allow larger totes to be stored under the bed. This is a strong well made bunk bed. I wish they put extra screws though becase a few broke and I had to improvise. My boys love it and that was the dream. It is a build so prepare, it took about 6 hours to complete it looks great.
