I enjoyed using this air conditioner on a 4-hour trip in June. My mini cargo van AC was out, and this kept me from dying of heat stroke. It didn't fill the cargo van with cool air, but with the spout pointed toward me, it made the space you bearable. The Sunjoy cycles on and off. I could not find a rhyme or reason to why it was cycling. It seems when the temperature is too high ( 95+), it does not work. I would roll the windows down slightly, and it would cycle back on around 88 degrees. I ran the air conditioner on the Oupes Mega 1. When the compressor is on, it is using just over 200 watts. I never saw it go above 250 watts, but it did stay slightly lower. It uses a few watts even when the compressor is not operating. I think it is because of the thermostat sensors. It would be really nice if it could run on 12 volts instead of only AC. My Oupes uses some watts just having the 120 volt plugs on. Finally, the Sunjoy is much larger than I anticipated. Works really, really well - upgraded from a smaller BTU unit to this one and it cranks. Definitely higher quality than some of the super random brands you'll see. Only issue I had (which is denoted in the specs, I just missed it) is it does come come with enough sections to cover up a standard sized sliding glass door properly, so I had to buy an extra extension kit for about $30. Has a built in dehumidifier so you need to make sure you have a bucket or drain to release the water after running for a while. It’s has a nice remote to change settings and you can also do it on the unit itself. This air conditioner needs to vent so it comes with panels that attach to a window to vent the hot air it creates.
