This Kilim design originates from Mimana, located in the Northern part of Afghanistan, an area suspected to have been settled in Paleolithic times due to the numerous cave dwellings discovered there. This kilim has a multicolored geometric pattern. This particular kilim was woven by village weavers in the province of Balkh located in the Northern part of Afghanistan. Kilims are known as pile-less, flat-weave floor coverings, which are achieved by interweaving various colors of the vertical and horizontal strands of the kilim.
