Best Ice Makers With Reviews

The ice maker in the refrigerator freezer began making ice so slowly that we were always running out. I replaced the unit, but it made no difference. So we started buying 20# bags of ice from the store and filling the non-ice maker bin with this ice. We make a lot of protein shakes, fruit smoothies, and refreshment drinks and we were always having to go to the store to buy ice. We looked at commercial ice makers and residential under-the-counter types. The cost always made us rethink that direction and next thing you know we were driving to the store for more ice. A friend mentioned Portable Ice Makers, and I scoffed. I'm thinking, Ya right. That's all we need is some other useless appliance to clog up the counter space. Boy was I wrong! The features and capacity got my attention. The price sealed the deal. We bought the 50# daily capacity and it arrived very quickly. It had a dent in the stainless sheet metal wrap that I thought about reporting, but did not and may not anyway. So I plugged it in, filled it with RO water (held almost 1 gallon) and started the machine. It started pumping the water from the reservoir right away and within 7 minutes the first batch dropped in the tray. No kidding! The first batch is always clear and small (about 1/2 diameter), but subsequent batches are more whitish and much larger (about 1 diameter). It just keeps cranking away until it reaches the top where a sensor stops production. You must remove the ice and bag it and freeze it in the bag. Do not put the ice right out of maker into your ice bin in the freezer. It will freeze together and you'll have a big block of ice. Bag it, freeze it and break it apart like you always have to do with bagged ice - drop it on the ground. Great ice maker. We make and bag 50#, put 'em all in the freezer and turn the machine off for DAYS. I can't believe I hesitated for a moment to make this purchase. I couldn't be happier!

I bought this Ice Maker, espically for my Class A Motorhome. I have a pretty good size Fridge/Freezer in my Motorhomes Kitchen. I do mostly all Boondocking, being off the Grid. I wasn't about to give up any of my Freezer space for Ice Cube Trays, or i would only able to bring half the amount of Frozen Foods, do to the space the Ice Cube Trays would take up. The Ice Maker arrived much faster than I was told it would take. It only took me a couple of minutes to remove the Ice Maker from the Double Boxs, it was very well packaged in. I had my first drop of Ice Cubes in only 13 minutes. While I wrote up my fist review, I heard loots of Ice Droppiing. Since its just myself and my best friend, my Little Yorkie Dog. I doubt that I could use the 28 pounds oIce Cubes it makes in a day. So that is one less thing that I have to worry about. On Hot days, I even put some Ice Cubes in my Yorkies Water Dish, so he has cold water also. I am very pleased that I bought this Ice Maker. My only regreat, it that I wish I would have bought it even soon than I did. I would buy this Ice Maker again in a Heart Beat. This is very well built Ice Maker not some cheap Junk from China.. If it should ever go out, I will buy another one very quickly. I bought this color as it goes very well with the Inside Make-Over and with the colors that I used, when I did my Motorhomes Make-Over. I have looked for quite a while for an Ice Maker. I couldn't find anything even close to this Quality, or even close to the Selling Price. I guess you can say, we are Very Happy RV'ers now, thats for sure.

The machine arrived on time and well packed. There was a slight dent on the back of the unit but it did not look like it would affect the performance so I continued to unpack it for use. I let it sit for a full day before plugging it in to let everything settle. Pretty necessary when you are using anything that uses any kind of freon. I was really pretty disappointed the first day as it produced so little ice and I thought I may have to send it back. By the second day, once it had gotten into a cycle, it began dropping ice every 30 minutes or so. Knowing that this is supposed to produce 28# of ice per day I thought it would be plenty as I was hoping to get at least 14# of ice from morning until late in the day, but it is not producing quite that much. One issue I have been having is after it drops a tray of ice occasionally it will begin to fill the bottom bin with water, melting all the ice it just created. I am still trying to figure out what is causing that. I probably should have gone with the larger unit but so far am pleased with this one as it seems to be running better the longer I use it. I will try to remember to do a follow up review in about a month. Pros: Looks nice, very clear ice cubes!, once up and running for a while produces ice rather quickly Cons: The bottom catch bin occasionally fills with water melting the ice it just created, takes a couple of days to get it up to speed creating ice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whynter replaced my old model under warranty with this one and it's much better. Nice compact design. My only issue is it sometimes freezes up and doesn't produce ice. Usually if I turn it off, defrost it and. turn it on again it works. The door definitely needs to be closed hard. It's easy to leave it ajar, probably why it freezes up.

This purchase was perfect for the needs for a household of five. Plenty of ice to go around even for large events with guest. Love the automatic water fill option for permanent use but also can manually add water to the reservoir for taking the unit for temporary use. Do wish there was a way to keep the ice frozen, but that is a minimal concern for the rest of the performance advantages of the unit. Would purchase it again.

I honestly have to say "Thank you " to Wayfair staff. I obviously made an error in my order that I wasn't immediately aware of. They contacted me immediately after I had received my package the very next day, and were so obliging. I actually thought it would be arriving in two days, not the very next day! What a pleasant surprise! Even though I clearly made the mistake, they still wanted to help me resolve it in any way they could. Who does that? Thanks Wayfair again for reaching out to me and caring about my issue. It's truly hard to find today people who take the time to help their customers out, whether we make the mistake or not. Quick, 2 day shipment is really nice. I had been looking for portable ice maker for several weeks. Decided on this one. Received it last week. Put to work on Saturday and again today. The first few ice "bullets" were quite small on both settings. However, the size got larger within an hour. The noise this unit makes can be quite disturbing when the unit is operating in our great room. But hearing the response of having a new supply of ice makes it tolerable. It would have been nice to have better insulation on the storage area which is a basket above the water reservoir. When I have 2, 3 or 4 drops, I put the ice into a plastic container and into the refrigerator for collection until I can put the ice into zip storage bags in the big freezer. Having to have a dedicated electrical receptacle was another situation I had to resolve as the fan on the right side had to be 6 inches from the wall. My kitchen is small and counter space is at a premium so that's something one might have to take into consideration.

We have this in our cafe and it keeps up well. Looks much nicer than most ice makers. Produces more than enough ice to fill our ice drink orders. Been running it almost non-stop for 16 months and it hasn't complained once. I would recommend adding an inline filter if you have hard water. It'll save you the hassle of build-up and blockage.

This was purchased as a gift for my son and his family. They use a great deal of ice throughout the day and this ice machine keeps up with demand. It arrived with some damage that Wayfair dealt with immediately, which I appreciated.

Great ice maker. Perfect for company and everyday refreshments. My dogs love it that we have this ice machine. They want ice more than doggie treats which is a great diet plan for them. Every time I open the door they are waiting for their treat of ice. It does produce a lot of ice. I do have issue with the controls and how difficult it is to change ice settings. The Operations manual sucks in trying to understand how to program. Sorry but maybe I need a kindergarten teacher telling me how many times to push the button to get the color/setting I need. I need numbers not blinking lights. I had to read the instruction to many times to get it through this thick skull. Also just want everyone to know my ice maker came damaged we sent the pictures in and they are replacing it but I haven't received the new one yet. It should ship on June 23rd 2021. The pump is horrendously LOUD and this machine makes HORRIBLE NOISES. I think because it was damaged. So hopefully the new one will be quiet as a mouse.

The unit arrived with some slight dings to the bottom vented grille, the quality and finish of the unit was as expected for the price. Once installed i can appreciate some of the comments i read about the quality of the ice cubes, they aren't fully formed and what you end up with in the bin is more of a combined 80% cube melt - sure you can break it up and get what you need on the scoop but it's not A grade production. I recommend ordering a separate robust stainless scoop to cope with the melted mess, the plastic one it comes with is not great. You get what you pay for and this was at the low end of the units available and will do what i need, not dissatisfied, simply low expectations met!

It’s a great ice maker for a good price. The only thing I do not like is that the settings are on the outside back of the ice maker. So if you want to change the size of the ice you have to pull the ice maker out from under the counter lucky for me I have enough water line and drain hose to allow for that without unhooking everything.

It dropped 4 peices of ice within the first 10m I had it plugged in within 30m I had a full basket it wont fill no more if the basket is full so it will not over fill i love it and its not noisy I was worried at first because delivery guy just threw it at my door but waifair double boxed it THANKS WAIFAIR

I had a different and much more expensive ice maker which just never worked correctly and I had to toss it after 1 yrs use because the interior was permanently stained and not for lack of cleaning. I chose this brand/model over the Avanti (which also dispenses cold water) because of the self cleaning function and I am glad i did. The unit is silent and easy to maintain and I actually like the single cube size since I have had other units where you can choose various ice cube sizes, but they never work. I would like to purchase a spare plug and cover for the water outlet and if you could tell me where to buy one I would appreciate it. I look forward to many years of usage.

Giving it 4 stars, it requires extra room in the back for ventilation. I couldn’t use it and unfortunately had to send back. Wayfair was great about the return process. Just paid a small fee.
