I wanted to put something in this space but needed to still figure out how my dog will have access to her bowls. This was great because the height and amount of shelves was appropriate enough to keep one shelf out. That way my dog won’t hit her head. Love love love! I was worried the shelves would seem chintzy, but they are nice and solid. It was easy to put together by myself. I was looking for a ladder shelf that did not need to be anchored to the wall; the instructions mention anchoring it, but it seems sturdy and stable (even on carpet) without doing so. Okay so….this will frustrate you. It’s not too difficult to put together, physically. In fact it’s very simple that way. But you have to have every piece facing the right direction based on the location of specific holes that aren’t very well-marked or identified in the instructions and if you don’t get that just right, you have to start over. Assembly tip assemble the L-shaped shelf brackets first and make sure those align with the holes before you bolt the cross bars in. Also check to make sure the tiny holes for the mesh are facing the back from the beginning. You have to build it backwards in order to put two together as mirror images of each other as pictured. I couldn’t figure out how to do that so I’m honestly planning to use black zip ties on the mesh part if I ever need to do that, and call it a day. The manufacturer should include instructions for mirror-image assembly, as well as directional arrows on each piece for more clarity. Beautiful but the finishing is not perfect for the price. The glass is template so that is a plus. Be aware that is not too tall, you can see all the screws and that the gold is a little vintage kind of greenish gold. Personally I prefer that color.
