We really like this waterproof mattress pad. We have a dog who sometimes has small accidents during the night. The pad fits our deep mattress easily and the fabric prevents any moisture from seeping through. One tip, we bought this as a replacement for the exact pad. Do not wash in a washer with an agitator. I washed the last one in our new agitator top load. It shredded the underside fabric and really made a mess. Be sure to remove the agitator if possible or safely wash in a front load.. Janet. I was quite surprised at how nice this topper is. It's heavy, thick, and soft to lay on. It has elastic straps on the corners to hold it in place. The straps are adjustable to fit various mattresses. I opened the bag and the topper began inflating. The directions say to allow 48 hours for full inflation, but it was really pretty good within the 1st hour. Not as thick as I had hoped, closer to a thick mattress cover. Not much different from a down blanket, really. It’s basically a nice topper for firming up a foam mattress, or adding a hypoallergenic layer overtop something that’s not rated as being very “green”. We first tried this over a firm latex pad, and it did not add much noticeable improvement in thickness or softness. Next, we tried this down pad over a 2 inch thick foam pad, and it made all the difference! I am not at all a fan of foam pads. However, using this topper over the foam pad makes the foam less susceptible to sinking! Love it! I purchased the 3" Slumber Solutions Reversible Cooling Gel Memory Foam. After sleeping on it for a few weeks, I wish I had purchased the 2" one. It is on an old mattress that was firm originally so with age it was a bit harder. I went with the Cooling Gel rather than a standard egg-crate one expecting it to now be so hot. It does seem to be a bit warm but not horrible. I can turn the over head fan on and I am fine. This will ultimately be a guest room. It is on the bed with the egg crate down to give more support (at least that what descriptions say). It may be cooler with the egg crate side up. I let it air out for a week while we were out-of-town. No strange odors when opened and was fairly expanded. This does fit under the fitted sheet so there is not much movement of the topper. Since it is the 3", it has taken some time to get used to the extra height around the edges of the bed. Overall a good topper and I am pleased with my purchase.. Margaret. Silver Spring, MD.
