I purchased this to extend our usable space on our patio. It took 2 people about 5 hours in the Texas heat to put this together. We did have some experience with this type of assembly so that helped streamline things. It definitely needs to be anchored, but once it is the awning is quite stable. Pretty nice and sturdy. It comes in 7 boxes + box with screens and curtains if that’s the model purchased. I wish the assembly instructions were in box one and that the instructions told you where the hardware was, The instructions and hardware are in box 5. Make sure all parts are not damaged before starting assembly especially the key structure parts. Some of my louvers were dented but the didn’t effect my assembly. They were replaced, but it took a week to get the replacements. Wayfair and manufacturer were responsive and easy to deal with but it took time to get the replacement parts. We are very happy with our Backyard Discovery Beaumont 14x12 pergola! The only negative would be the time it took to arrive, which was about six weeks. Otherwise, it is very well made and looks beautiful. You need at least three people to put together. I love this pergola! I had been debating one for years and finally found one with all the features I wanted. We dont have any trees so theres no natural covering, and the backyard gets blasted with sun during the day. This pergola is perfect for manually adjusting the 4 different sections of louvers for the amount of sun wanted. We havent used the curtains or netting yet but I love having the option when needed. We paid for assembly which occurred over 3 days and 3 different crews. Caution- I dont recommend using the included anchors for anchoring to your base, unless your base is absolutely perfectly level. We recently purchased this pergola and overall we’re very happy with how it turned out. Once assembled, it looks beautiful and adds a nice focal point to our landscape bed. The design is attractive, and the size was perfect for creating a garden feature without overwhelming the space. Assembly was straightforward, and all of the parts were labeled well. The wood accepted stain nicely, which allowed us to customize the color to better match our porch and decking. (The lighter wood shown in some photos is the original factory color before staining.) The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that several pieces arrived damaged from shipping. A few boards had broken ends and cracked sections around the pre-drilled holes. Fortunately, the damaged pieces were not structural components, and we were able to repair them with wood glue and still complete the build without needing replacement parts. Despite the shipping damage, the finished pergola feels sturdy, looks great, and was a good value for the price. If the manufacturer improved packaging and shipping protection, this would easily be a 5-star product. Overall, we’re pleased with the final result and look forward to training climbing plants over it for years to come.
