This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. It is beautiful and feels heavy and stable. It does not squeak or move around. I placed the bed on the carpet and the drawers still move in and out easily. Drawers are made of solid wood. I have had other similar beds where the drawers are made of plastic. I am glad that I paid someone to install it because it took a pro more than an hour. The new shipment did arrive with all the parts, but we also noticed some chipping and damage on the side. At that point, we decided to keep it because we were tired of going back and forth.
