Solid wall, brick or concrete walls are required for installing our murphy bed. Please ensure that the wall thickness is sufficient for the provided screws. Did have to modify the wall anchoring given the brick wall anchors that are provided. The front panel has more space between the shelving on one side (everything reads level, and the bottom of the front panel has even spacing). I did notice other review photos have the same problem. Comes in 4 boxes, received 2 on one day the other 2 the next day. Really nice set, pretty happy with it. Couple of extras that we are doing to it, the brackets to hold the frame to the wall can be seen when bed is down just going to paint them white to make it less noticeable. The barrel of the hinge for the shelf can be seen when the bed is in the up postion. Definitely need to support the bed frame to the wall and into the studds a must. I was so skeptical about purchasing this bed because of the price point. It was a really good price. And I was worried that it was going to be cheaply made or pieces broken when we got it, or it wouldn’t fit together the way it’s supposed to. It took my Handyman about eight hours to put it together. I really like the Murphy bed it was delivered on time and was in almost perfect condition. The item had one minor scratch, and it was easy to paint over. The bed was not easy to assemble, but I had help. It looks nice and is easy to lift updown. The finished Murphy bed looks great, but getting there was a FRUSTRATING experience. My dad and I spent nearly three full days assembling it, and honestly, finding and organizing all of the parts across five separate boxes took almost as much time as the actual build. Several pieces were mislabeled in both the instructions and on the part stickers, which made assembly more difficult than it should have been. After completing the build, we discovered that one of the bracket bolts for the shocks was stripped, and we spent over an hour trying to fix it before contacting customer service. They’re sending a replacement part, but that means I’ll have to partially disassemble the bed after already finishing it. The drawers have also been problematic. The brackets came pre-installed, but they weren’t positioned correctly, causing the drawers to misalign and fall off the tracks. I had to remove and reposition the drawer slides myself, and even then the issue hasn’t been completely resolved. I was also disappointed that the bed only came with a chain lock to secure the door in the upright position, which didn’t seem very reliable, so we purchased our own hardware instead. Additionally, no hardware was provided to help keep the mattress in place when the bed is closed, requiring another extra purchase. At this point, returning the bed isn’t really an option since it’s already assembled and anchored to the wall, and taking it apart would be far too much work. Overall, the bed looks beautiful and functions as intended, but the quality control on the parts, hardware, measurements, and included components leaves a lot to be desired. This unit perfectly utilized a tiny 8x10 “bedroom” in my 126-year-old house. I use it as a multi-purpose guest room (for one) and craftoffice area. It’s super resourceful and space-saving which I love and wouldn’t have otherwise conceived would be possible given how tiny the room is. That being said It’s a great deal for what you get, but what you get is a fully occupied weekend for AT LEAST two people, and that’s if you’re familiar with assembling furniture, which I am. This was hands-down the most tedious and time-consuming piece I’ve ever assembled—however, I expected that to be the case and prepared myself for it. I would advise separating all the parts by step (hardware especially) beforehand to prevent stupid mistakes like using screws on step 37 that were meant to be used on step 13. Every detail matters. I am single but I can see how this project could potentially end in divorce. All in all, it’s a great piece for the money—just prepare yourself for not just hours, but DAYS of labor. Highly recommend for the patient DIY folks. The instructions aren’t great but they rarely are. Fortunately there are QR codes on each step which link to videos showing the guys in the factory assembling it.
