Pine with a baked on finish which looks fantastic. Assembly is simple and the directions are straightforward. Everything aligned perfectly and it took about 45 min to assemble both boxes. Everything fit together perfectly, no misplaced holes, etc. I agree with another reviewer that the wheel on the door can be a bit balky, but it's fine and helps keep things balanced.
