Area Rugs

We bought this rug in order to protect our hardwood floors under our dining room table. We have two young children so basically the rug is being used as a dropcloth. We did get a quote from a carpet retailer who would have charged us almost the same amount as the rug but we would have ended up with a carpet remnant with no design, ugly colors from which to choose and we would have had to steam clean it when it became too dirty. The Spinx rug is perfect for us because it can be hosed down if need be and the best part is the design and colors. We've had the rug for almost a month now and plenty of food plus a full glass of milk has dropped on it and the rug still looks great. I'm contemplating ordering another for our front porch outside. The carpet is so inexpensive and the shipping was free so it's difficult to find a reason not to buy one. I will add that we did purchase the carpet pad to go underneath the rug but we are shopping around for the padding that resembles a somewhat thick felt fabric. We have friends that learned the hard way that some rugs on hardwood floors can leave the small woven design of the rug backing on the floor. They advised the felt-type rug padding so we're on the lookout for one though we haven't tried too hard yet. This rug is the first purchase Ive made through Wayfair and Im thrilled with the whole experience. I originally saw the rug at a local big box store. I decided to compare prices online and was able to buy it at Wayfair on sale for over 100 less with free shipping. Even if it hadnt been on sale, Wayfairs price was still lower. I was worried about buying a rug online though, because its so hard to tell what it would look like once its in your home. The photo is an accurate depiction. The rugs color name is BeigeGray but in my home the gray looks like it has some subtle slate blue in it. That is probably because of my lighting but it is exactly what I wanted. Again, the photo represents this color very well. I called Wayfair to discuss this rug and the customer service rep was incredibly sweet and helpful. She put the rug on hold for me for a week to lock in the sale price while I decided if I wanted to order it. Once I decided yes, I received the rug in the promised number of delivery days (cant remember now how many days it was, but the website states that info - it wasnt long). I love the rug! It was obviously delivered all rolled up, and so took a few days to lay completely flat. We also had to turn it 180 degrees from the way we originally set it up because, as with all carpet fibers, depending on the cut of the fiber, one direction might reflect more light than the other. We wanted a more flat color look which we achieved by simple turning the carpet around. All of my guests over the holidays, commented on the subtle colors and beauty of this rug. I wanted a neutral/solid-color area rug in my great room to replace an area rug that has a very bold, modern design. The image at the website gave me the impression that this rug had a tweed look to it. That impression was wrong. The fibers are one uniform color throughout. The variation shown in the image must be due to lighting when the photo was taken. Anyway, the rug is very thick with a very soft pile. I especially liked that the rug was available in a 6 x 9' format, a size not often available from rug manufacturers. The neutral color allows be to be more bold with pillows and other room accessories that were previously dominated by the bold design of the former rug. The rug arrived by FedEx within a week of my order and was tightly wrapped in two layers of plastic. Since this rug is made of synthetic materials, it will not be as expensive to have cleaned as my former 100% wool rug."..."  Read more

I bought Safavieh wool rugs before, and I like this brand. They are thick and heavy, and the patterns are generally better in real life than on the screen. I bought this rug for the living room (9'6" by 13'6"). I was aware of the fact that it was very subdued and would not stand on its own, and I chose it to fit into the room design with the furniture and walls. When it arrived, I was pleased to find that the colours were not quite as "dirty" as in the pictures, and the pattern is actually quite pleasant and to look at (and distinct enough to see). It did everything I wanted it to, plus it looked nicer than I expected. My partner was not too keen on my choice initially, but upon the arrival, he was very impressed himself. I have got to say, when a guy keeps repeating how pleased he is with the rug looks and feel, I know he is not lying. Quality: in my experience, Safavieh wool rugs shed fiber in the beginning. Be prepared to vacuum and dust often in the first month. After a month, the shedding subsides. I did not mind this, but if you are allergic or sensitive to wool, you may want to go with some other material. My son is somewhat sensitive, but with one quick daily vacuuming, it is quite manageable. In long term, the quality of my other Safavieh rugs proved to be quite good. The only thing I can think of is that when I lift them up to vacuum underneath (which happens maybe 2-3 times a year), there is some white dust on the floor which seems to be coming from the rug. So far, this did not affect the integrity of the rugs in the least. I would buy other Safavieh rugs in the future. I think they are extremely well priced with no impact to the quality. I am sure there are better rugs - but the price tag reflects their quality too. Bonus: this very large rug was packed (not rolled up) compactly enough to fit into my small car.
