I would suggest an elderly person with weak hand strength get help tightening the metal hardware. The table and chairs are pretty good. I like them in the space. However Wayfair forgot half of the chairs and then sent me boxes of chairs to assemble even though I paid for white glove delivery in the original order. Customer service said we didn’t order full service for replacement parts (we ordered it on the original order) and refused any solution. We bought this 9 piece dining set for our new house. I like that it is small with 4 chairs when not expanded and can seat 8 when we have guests. It’s easy to expand and we like that the leaf is part of the table and we don’t need to find space to store it. It’s quite heavy and sturdy. I love the finish to look at but it does scratch easily. We use our bar stools for about every meal, so it doesn’t get a lot of use. I don’t think I’d recommend it to a young family as a main table though unless you view inevitable scratches and blemishes as character! It works for our situation though.. Deborah. Cincinnati, OH.
