I've had this comforter set for years. It has withstood two animals (cat and big dog) My dog digs at it and frayed the patterning a little bit, but their pet hair doesn't show too much, and it vacuums up pretty easily. Great solid duvet cover with shams. Purchased for teen boy. Did not smell any worse than a set of super expensive organic bamboo sheets we received the same day. They are in fact blue, just a very dark blue/grey but mostly blue (headboard of bed is dark grey for comparison).
