It’s likely you’ve heard of Habitat for Humanity, the global organization founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live. Perhaps you, or someone you know, have lent a hand to a Habitat build, joining other members of your community to raise a house from the ground up, always with the direct participation by the prospective homeowner.
Last month, ninety Wayfair employees participated in a Habitat for Humanity build. We learned more than how to install drywall and wield a power drill. Habitat shared with us the staggering fact that nearly 2 billion people around the world are living in slum housing and over 100 million more are homeless. Habitat’s mission has never been more relevant. This is why Wayfair and its more than one-thousand employees have partnered with Habitat, pledging to work on three fronts simultaneously:
Donate product to help raise funds

Each month Wayfair makes a substantial financial donation to Habitat with the delivery of several truckloads of home furnishing to ReStore. ReStore is Habitat’s own chain of 825 retail stores in the US and Canada that accept donations of new and gently-used building materials and home goods that they, in turn, sell to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat uses the proceeds from these sales to help fund future house-building projects.
Donate funds for Habitat builds
We know visitors to wayfair.com are amazed and inspired by the sheer variety of lighting we offer—it’s one of our most popular product categories. So, on behalf of our customers, Wayfair will donate $5 for every lighting fixture or lamp $75 or more purchased during the month of July—all you have to do is shop!

With millions of customers shopping our site each week, we take seriously our role in the corporate community to help promote organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the work they do.
