I just moved into a little mid-century modern house just steps from the mighty Atlantic Ocean and along with rocks, roses, and a pet seagull—the neighbors named him Joshua—is a small but rather dreamy deck. (Ignore the flaking paint—I am on it! “Christian….umm, I mean, Stonington Gray” for the floor and “Simply White” for the railings, both available from Benjamin Moore.)
But, how shall I furnish this little space? Selfish creature that I am, I have no desire to entertain. So, an outdoor kitchen/entertaining set-up is a no-go. I just want to channel my inner-Calypso and stare out at the sea. Therefore, it’s really all about seating.
Maybe clean and classic like a row of crisp white rockers?
A pair of teak Adirondack chairs left to weather into a warm grey?
Something louche such as a pair of sleek chaise lounge?
Or, embrace my more colorful side?
I’ll make a decision this week and share the finished space in an upcoming post.
In the meantime, which would you choose?
