In Boston, spring is in the air and with the new season comes a slew of warm-weather traditions that make me giddy with anticipation. My fiancé, friends, and I love to plan picnic dinners at the beach, patio dining in the city, and sun porch dinner parties at home.
Dining alfresco is one of our most treasured spring pastimes. And this spring, I’m on the search for the perfectly bright pieces to juxtapose our elegantly rustic, historic farm table. I’m turning to loads of beautiful imagery for inspiration along the way.
This photo above encompasses everything I adore about mismatched pieces. I’m drawn to groupings of furniture that look like they’ve been collected over a period of time. A sundrenched and airy space makes the most perfect place for gathering friends.
Contemporary pieces perfectly juxtapose rustic focal points. Stackable seating also makes for an easy cleanup—and a quick exit in case of a spring shower.
Nothing is more compelling than brightly colored accents in a natural environment. These pretty pops above beautifully soften the dramatically rustic décor.
In case you’re in the mood for a more contemporary look, a white and black palette is, at once, both elegant and dramatic . With an ocean-view backdrop, little color is needed!
Now, I just need some fabulous alfresco recipes from Liren!
What does your dream outdoor space look like? Dramatic? Understated? I would love to hear!
