The 5x magnification is just right - I looked at 8x and 10x magnification mirrors at the store and my eyes couldn't even focus. The light around this mirror is great (I think it's more white light than yellow light I saw on other mirrors), and it helps me see things that I can't see with my regular bathroom lighting. The brushed nickel finish fits in well with my bathroom decor. At first I just had the cord hanging down from the wall, but my husband was able to put the cord inside the wall near the outlet.
