"Hi Mark, This TV stand's shelves are 7 1/4" high without including the lip. Not counting the lip, the shelves are 9" apart, so you will have plenty of room for your receiver!"

I would recommend the Z-Line Designs Lancer Flat Panel 3-in-1 Television Mount System in Cherry, because this is very similar and can handle up to a 60 inch TV. This is SKU# ZLD1039 on our site."

Store only had floor models with other TV's displayed. Store offered to sell us a floor model w/only 10% off... what a rip off. I can't make up my mind (the corner or the wall) looks great in either space. Just don't do what I did and put the bottom shelf in the middle then had to switch them. This thing is sturdy.
