The color is darker than the taupe in the picture and the fabric has a lot of texture to it. It looks much better in the picture. In person, it looks kind of cheap. I would call the color more of a 'mushroom', it wasn't the color I was expecting, but it is nice. I would have appreciated a color sample before buying. I asked and was told color samples were not available. I like the microfiber fabric, has a suede quality to it. Before I ordered, I read the customer comments regarding the Morro Bay Parson Chairs. Many of the comments indicated that the assembly directions were confusing or difficult. That was my experience as well, and I love 'do it yourself projects'. The parts were mislabeled. The long bolts where labeled as 'B; and should have been labeled as 'D'. The medium bolts were labeled as 'D' and should have been labeled as 'C' and the short bolts were labeled as 'C' and should have been labeled as 'B'. I suggest you arrange the bolts by length, look at page 2 of the instructions before proceeding to the assembly diagram. It will help. A great chair for the price.
