My son put the table together. The base is hollow,and the leaves are supported by wood supports. It's not a piece of furniture to be used by an active family. But for my elderly parents, it's just right. And working with Wayfair was a most pleasant experience. Was this helpful? Yes / No

The directions were easy to follow and it was very easy to put together. Not only is it a cute little set, it is pretty sturdy too for the price. I am very pleased. The apartment unit is small so having the pedestal base on the table gives you more room because you can push all four chairs in almost up to the table which you can not do with alot of other tables. Putting it together was a little bit of a challenge as the instructions weren't great and the entire base (including legs) needs to be assembled. - But once we got it together the table as been a great addition to the home. Drop Leaf mechanism is not good as the bars underneath that hold the leaf up do not move completely out of the way when you want the leaf down; so when you drop the leaf, the bar takes off part of the wood. This was the case with both table tops we had. White paint is really bad and chips off VERY easily. Was this helpful? Yes / No
