Great supplement (not replacement) for conventional heating. With oil prices high, it is great to supplement durring the day way temps are higher. However, it is also enjoyable to look at.

I purchased this slate fireplace to match my slate cocktail and end tables, however, come to find out the slate is faux! Very disappointing!! It also arrived with a chip in the front left panel. For the money spent I would think it would be better materials. As for " some assembly required" as it reads on the website I purchased it from, that's a bogus statement. The whole fireplace needs to be assembled!! I figured it would come assembled and the "some assembly" would be putting in the firebox insert. It took 3 people an hour to assemble. After saying that, it is VERY pretty and I am extremely happy with how the fire looks! Some of them look so fake but I have to say it is very realistic and has about 4 different settings for the flame. I called the manufacturer and they were very helpful and will be mailing the defective part replacement out right away! All in all it is very pretty and realistic!!! Although its faux slate it does match my real slate tables which I am very happy about!!!
