It's a little darker than pictured, which I do not like, there were no pre-drilled holes for hinges and lid stays. The hinges were not a big problem but the lid stays are a big problem as the holes have to be drilled perfectly for the lid to operate properly (I've requested a diagram for proper positioning). Also an edge of one of the sides had a one half inch fold back of the laminate finish. Other wise it is an attractive piece of furniture.

I have this cedar chest at the end of my bed, and I love it. It reminds me of my childhood, my grandmother had one and I would sit on it to put my shoes on. Everytime I open it you can smell cedar. Its everything I expected it to be and more. The hand carved wood. I would recommend this cedar chest to anyone that was thinking of buying one.
Like that it is solid cedar inside

I am certainly am happy with the cedar chest. I bought it because it is solid cedar inside. I use it to stores some memory items. I didn't give it a 5 star rating, because some of the tool marks and the glue shows. It would also be nice if it had handles.
I wish I'd gotten the chest in the photo

The chest arrived on time needing assembly. The instructions were moderately confusing but the most disapointing thing was 5 of the cast zinc locks for securing the corners broke upon tightening. I had to go to Ace hardware to find something close, which did not fit and were just as flimsy, in order to assemble the chest in time to give to my wife on her birthday. The finish was spotty - some areas the wood were not stained completely and the clear coat was not sprayed evenly. I tried to touch up the bare wood areas with Old English but the clear coat prevented the stain from penetrating. Overall the chest looks okay but the close up detailing is not very good -it looks like it was just rushed through the assembly line. This chest is not representative of the photo shown, but I do not want to ship it back therefore we will keep it.

The chest was a gift to my grandaughter and we did love it but there were a few flaws. Good quality fairly easy to assemble.

The ease of putting this together was fine. However, I was very disappointed to find damage. It was obvious that someone had tried to repair it with glue. It was distressing to find out that Wayfair tries to pass off damaged goods as new. Definitely not worth the money.
