After the reading the reviews I was a bit skeptical, worried my boyfriend and I were just going to get frustrated with the assembly, we were waiting for the argument, but it never came . The piece was quite easy for us to assemble, but I must admit, I buy a lot of product unassembled. The directions are a little confusing but the picture is quite easy to follow. The only thing to remember is that you are assembling upside down. What a beautiful piece. The only complaint I might have is the stickers to cover the screws cheapen the piece a bit, the manufacturer should have used painted pegs to insert. Someone should pass that on so the can better their product for a dollar more. I put it in a office space with a oversized chair/ottoman and "L" shaped desk, looks great, plenty of compartments. Looks beautiful.

As the other reviews shared, the instructions are not terribly helpful and you WILL need two people to put this together. The wood is actually very sturdy and as long as you hammer the wooden dowels in all the way, the pieces fit together nicely. The only reason I'm not giving this four stars is because of the Allen's wrench. You have about 20+ screws to hold this shelf together and the allen wrench provided is almost too small to even hold onto. We were able to screw in all but the LAST screw....so I have one that sticks up about a half inch higher than it should, but i think if I paint it white, it will look ok. I'm using it as a divider between my bed and couch in my studio apartment and it makes a great statement without blocking any light.
Cracked bottom piece

This bookcase came with a crack in the very bottom piece. I needed it for graduation and family was coming, so I had no choice but to put it together and use it. I was a bit disappointed. I was able to cover up the crack, but of course, I wish it wasn't there. Don't get me wrong, I love the bookcase and I think your company is great and I'll definitely shop with you again. I thought about calling up for a replacement piece or a new unit all together, but I think I'll just stick with this one and not bother with it.

This bookcase is the partner to my 53" bookcase, one on each side of my TV. The shorter one is on the entrance for a wider view and flows to this one past the TV set. I love the different size shelves as I had wanted to display different size items and was afraid a traditional entertainment center (that I thought I really wanted) would not fit the bill. So I have saved tons of money. Have a unique "entertainment" center, another piece that my neighbors went gaga over. East to put together. and fills the space wonderfully. Can you tell I'm happy?

The bookshelf looks nice except for the plastic stickies used to cover the nail heads as other reviewers stated. I've purchased other assembly your-self furniture before and they give little plastic things that you actually hammer down in the screw heads and it hides it. Also the instructions are really useless, the pictures are not bad to work off of. One mistake I made with the metal bars was to screw the longer end of the screw in the wood part and it cracked the wood, the instructions didnt tell which end to put in the metal and which in the wood, so I have 2 cracks in the wood, as I didnt notice that it happened the first time. Other wise it looks nice.
The awesome bookshelf

This was a great buy for my living room set. Once I built it, which took about a couple hrs, then added some books, DVDs, and some art decor it added some much room to my living area. One of the most interest things about to me is the color yeah I know white is a little harder to keep clean but it blends in very well with my living room set. If I had more room in my apartment I would not even mind owning a 2 nd one.
Those are the instructions?!

Pros: Seemed to be decent quality shelving. Heavy. White laminate not too thin.

The only reason this didn't receive 5 stars is because the instructions were lacking. It doesn't tell you which way to insert the bolts that hold the chrome looking bars. (The shirt ends goes into the shelf and the long piece goes into the bar). If you don't your screw will pierce the shelf. Other then that it's a great and sturdy unit we use to store our vinyl records and use it as a media center to hold our cable and bose media players. I highly recommend it for the price!

Directions are horrible and wrong! You are better off figuring it out on your own which isn't too hard. Took about an hour to put together with no help which wasn't bad. One of the metal posts was bent but I was able to bend it back enough to get it to do it's job. And the part that is bent is facing the wall, so it's not a big deal. There were a couple of scratcheschips on 2 of the shelves but nothing too obvious unless you really look. The cheap stickers they give you to cover the screw holes don't really stick to the surface, so you might want to glue them down or you'll have tacky looking holes all over your bookcase. Lastly, you'll want to secure it to a wall because it wobbles if you touch it and I have it on a hard surface (hardwood floors). If someone bumps into it, there goes all of your breakables. I gave it 3 stars because it is a nice looking piece for the money and I would recommend it to others if you anchor it to a wall and glue down the stickers to cover the screw holes. But I would not recommend this if you are looking for a room divider. It is not stable enough to stand on it's own, even on a hard floor surface.

Solid, pretty easy to assemble, works well for displaying photos and art, though probably not the best for just shelving books. Two reasons it doesn't get 5 stars - first there was a small scratch on one of the shelves, though luckily it's not visible once assembled, second, the instructions seemed to be missing a page - had to do about 13rd of the construction wo directions, but it was pretty obvious what went where so not a big issue.
