Water Pumps

I use this pump to remove water from my basement when my small utility pump isn't up to doing the job. - Unlike a lot of similar pumps, it discharges straight up (instead of at an angle) which is useful because of where I have to set it up. - It's a stable solid pump that runs cool - It's relatively quiet and pumps down to under 1/4" - Although it moves water really well, at shallow depths (less than 1/2") it slows down (but still moves a lot more water than my utility pump) and makes slurping noises (because it starts to suck air in along with the water) Unlike a typical utility pump, this pump requires a 2" hose. I do not use this for a Basement pump but for transferring water from my two (2) 450 gallon tanks that I catch rain water from my barn onto. Then transfer it to an 8500 gallon tank that I use for the orchard and garden water. So far it ha been very satisfactory except that it leaves a little too much water in the bottom of my tanks , I use it without the auto float sutoff."..."  Read more

I've owned 2 of them over the past 10 years, and bought a third last week. The first I let the float rest against the sump wall running it dry and burned up the pump. The second was to replace the one I burned up, and to pump my 15,000 gallon pool out to replace the liner. It would pump, with a five foot rise, a few minutes then shut off until it cooled down then start pumping again automatically. It did this until all 15,000 gallons were pumped out. About 7 hours. That sounds like a long time but that was 15,000 gallons with a small 1/3 hp pump. The third I bought last week was to replace the one I took out of the sump to pump out the pool with, and to use for other uses in the future so I don't have to keep taking the one out of the sump."..."  Read more
