I use this pump to remove water from my basement when my small utility pump isn't up to doing the job. - Unlike a lot of similar pumps, it discharges straight up (instead of at an angle) which is useful because of where I have to set it up. - It's a stable solid pump that runs cool - It's relatively quiet and pumps down to under 1/4" - Although it moves water really well, at shallow depths (less than 1/2") it slows down (but still moves a lot more water than my utility pump) and makes slurping noises (because it starts to suck air in along with the water) Unlike a typical utility pump, this pump requires a 2" hose. The one I bought with the pump screwed onto the top with little difficulty and was fairly easy to roll up when I finished."..."  Read more

I purchased this same model around 13 years ago and it performed well for the entire time and is still functional. I am adding a brick patio and must again use a pump to remove accumulated water.
