Satisfactory The product has to be assembled once it is received. [...]. The rabbit tends to eat on the wooden arch in the center of the top floor. The wood absorbs the urine which makes it difficult to clean and leads to odor build up. |

Not rabbit friendly This is a pretty poor quality hutch which isn't much fun for the rabbits in it or the owner who needs to clean it.This is the largest off-the-shelf hutch I could find anywhere in the USA; it's tiny. If you have one, lonely, baby rabbit it might work, but there's no way you can fit a pair in there. It's more use as a guinea pig hutch.Exposed wire ends in the doorway and upper-level access hole are downright dangerous; any rabbit larger than the tiniest dwarf is liable to scratch themselves badly if they move in a hurry (which rabbits do all the time). These wire edges collect fluff and hair like you wouldn't believe too.The floor on both levels is a wire mesh. This is at best uncomfortable for rabbits, at worst it can cause painful sores on their hocks. This means you have to line the cage with cardboard or newspaper, which then needs regular replacement. The metal tray is rendered useless.Unfortunately access for cleaning is terrible. Getting to the upper level is fine, through the hinged roof, but then to reach the lower level and change the lining you literally have to dismantle the cage by lifting out the entire upper level and removing the ramp! The tiny front door on the lower level is no good for getting things in and out of the cage. Totally unworkable. The internal ramp is too narrow and too steep. My agile bunnies hated it.Keeping a rabbit in this hutch for more than a few days amounts to cruelty. Unfortunately mine had to use it for 72 hours until I found something better (a dog training cage - perfect for houserabbits and a fifth of the price) so I couldn't even return it. Selling it was out of the question as I wasn't willing to inflict it on someone else, so out to the trash it went. Worst [$] I ever spent; I'd have got better value from shredding dollar bills and using them as litter. |
