Great scope

from Simi Valley, CA – Verified Buyer

Searched the internet to find reviews of this Vixen Newtonian. All reviews were very positive. Wayfair had the best price and even included a discount code. The scope arrived very quickly and was packed very well. Set up was very easy. The way the finder scope is attached high on the tube, and how the finder scope is placed in the scope attachment is a real pleasure. I redrilled an altazimuth tripod that I have to accept the scope rings. Everything worked perfectly. The scope has an extension that needs to be screwed onto the focuser, then the eyepiece fits in this extension. No problem. The focuser is smooth (just make sure that you screw on the extension attachment well - otherwise there might be some movement when you try to focus). The scopes primary mirror is center marked. This scope is very well made and sturdy. It is not very heavy, so there is no problem carrying it out to the backyard with it attached to the tripod. I got some great views of Jupiter and 4 of its moons, the Orion nebula, M-37, the Pleiades, Capella, Alderbaran, and the Hyades. A great scope that will give me many years of viewing pleasure.

Good Fun!

from ASHEVILLE, NC – Verified Buyer

This 5" telescope is easy & comfortable to use. It is a wise choice with better views than smaller 4" 'scopes, and it is more convenient than the next bigger 6" 'scopes. It is well designed, all features work as expected, and it was packed for safe shipping. At the moment I simply sit in a lawn chair & hold it steady in my lap. But - to fully enjoy - buy the tripod! A steady mount is the only way to appreciate the heavenly wonders you will see!
