Decorating with tiles is a perfect way to transform your kitchen or bathroom. You can find tiles in various shapes, sizes, colors and materials. Make sure that you research the porosity and density of the tile to find one that won’t easily be damaged by water or high foot traffic. Tiles come in porcelain, glass, ceramic, travertine and much more. Wall tiles, floor tiles and backsplash tiles radiate a beautiful glow throughout your home. You can easily take care of tile with simple cleaning solutions and water. Fortunately, tile is a low-maintenance addition that can significantly improve the visual aesthetic of your home.

Tiles come in various different shapes and sizes so they can fit into different types of spaces. For example, you can use large natural stone tiles for your floor and wall. If you prefer to decorate with more intricate design, then small glass and porcelain tiles look great behind your stove and in your shower.

Make sure that you find a tile that is durable for the area in which you wish to install it. For example, natural stones and tiles come with various different ratings related to water resistance, abrasion-resistance and density. If you are decorating a bathroom or shower, then you will want to prioritize tile that has high water resistance.

Another important measurement on your tile is the porosity, or the amount of moisture the tile is able to absorb. It’s important for decorating in kitchens and baths to find floor tile and wall tile that does well at repelling moisture. Impervious tiles are great for decorating indoors.

One of the major determinants of the hardness of tile is the length and temperature at which it is fired. Tiles, like porcelain, that are fired at higher temperatures for a long period of time are generally more stable. If you are looking for outdoor tile, then make sure you find tile that won’t easily be chipped or damaged.
